The Travel and Tourism Department now offers a Tour Guide Certification course. This is a joint initiative between Miami Dade College (MDC), the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB), Florida Association of Meetings & Events Professionals Inc. (FAME), the Southern Florida Concierge Association (SFCA) and the Professional Tour Guide Association of Florida (PTGAF).

Be a part of Miami’s tourism success by assuring tourists that they will be given an educational and fun tour. Enhance their experience and ensure your repeat business. This course is ideal for tourism professionals seeking certification.
 

Certification requires knowledge of Miami’s
History of Native Indians and Early Pioneers-Cultural Attractions -Architecture
Landmark Buildings and Neighborhoods-Art Deco District-Flora & Fauna
History-Geography-Transportation-Demographics
Art & Culture

To obtain your certification requires class attendance, completed course work and passing of an exam. It includes a practical component that addresses management issues, professional standards, logistics and communication skills. Class fee is $200 including all materials.

Mandatory bus tour with Miami's renowned historian and MDC Professor Dr. Paul George departs from the Miami Design Preservation League (MDPL) located at 1001 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach.
