The Common Application

What To Expect

Principia College provides a test-optional application process that utilizes a holistic assessment. We use test scores in order to consider prospects in a consistent manner, but we recognize that examinations do not reflect students' entire abilities.

Once we've received your completed application, your materials will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee. We will also ask each candidate to go through a Pathways call with our Admissions Counselors. In the Pathways call, we will discuss our history and Christian Science foundation, as well as policies and community standards.

We work hard to review each candidate thoroughly and the review process can take up to two weeks.

High School Transcript

你可以联系你的高中counselo指导r to request an official copy of your transcript be sent to Principia College. All official transcripts should be mailed directly from your high school to the Principia College Admissions Office at 1 Maybeck Place, Elsah, IL 62028.

For evaluation purposes, an unofficial copy either faxed or mailed to the Admissions Office is sufficient until the official copy is received. All high school transcripts are evaluated to determine GPA scores which are used for admission and scholarship decisions. This GPA is based on core academic subjects and is weighted for AP, IB, and honors classes.

SAT Reasoning Test/ACT Test Scores

The Admissions Committee offers an holistic assessment exam for applicants as an alternative to the SAT/ACT. The holistic assessment is currently being offered to applicants applying through Fall 2022. Pleasecontact Nicole Gervaisfor more information.

Applicants taking the SAT Reasoning or ACT will need to submit an official copy of their scores directly to Principia College. Test scores enable us to consider prospects in a consistent manner, but we recognize that examinations do not reflect students' entire abilities. Applicants can choose to take the Admissions Committee holistic assessment exam as an alternative to SAT/ACT.

The Admissions Committee recommends that students take the SAT or ACT exam in their junior year and again in their senior year. Under certain circumstances, we can use an unofficial copy of test scores while an official copy is being sent directly from the testing service.
